Update 36: GenCon Ahoy!
over 6 years ago – Tue, Jul 31, 2018 at 11:11:53 PM

New Quest Title Cards

In going back and forth with the approval process we were trying to come up with a solution to help the production team organize the cards and know which ones go where. This has been a problem not only for printing but when playing the game too. Players who wanted to reset the game had to track down which items and attack cards go where. The solution to both problems came to me by introducing Quest Title Cards.

These cards will address a few things. First off it will show the quest difficulty rating and symbol for all the cards on the front. Then on the back will list all Items/Atk Cards/Monsters associated with it. The names of the Quest and Boss. As well as any information that might be useful to clarify things in the quest. This will help people who want to have everything organized for the next play and will be included for all quests in all copies of Diceborn Heroes.

GenCon Schedule

As we were a late addition to GenCon we have 3 approved events scheduled for learn and play. We just don't have a location set up yet for where they will be as they are still marked as "Accepted for Consideration". I will post the locations when I find out. THey are scheduled Friday, Saturday, Sunday at 1:00PM. The time may shift slightly when it is finally given a table.

Current TimeLine

We are still waiting on notes for the most recent submitted files. I imagine with GenCon approaching nothing will be printed or approved before then. My plan is to meet up and discuss our current time line to see what is left. Thanks again for notes and observations on the rulebook seeing as the files have not moved forward i have changed a few minor notes as noted by PnP players.

Will have another update soon!

Update 35: Rulebook revised!

Copies ordered!

Hi guys, here is another update on where we are at, there are a few more surprises in store but first and foremost We have sent the order in. The file progress report came back and there were a few more tweaks required hopefully we can get a prototype of the final version soon.

New Rulebook uploaded

I have read through the comments on BGG on the rulebook and have made a rule change from a couple suggestions and my own experiences with players. The emptied stack now has a 1+ for any enemy that does not receive an attack card for the final round. The file should show up within a day or so.

New Token designs

We have cleaned up the tokens that you see from the original videos. It's difficult to see at this resolution but they are much higher resolution.

Kickstarter Treasure pack

Also in the box we are going to be including a tuckbox for all the Kickstarter rewards, all the unlocked hero classes, Quest lines, and Custom Hero artwork will all be together in here. To help make sure everything is shipped correctly.

We are going to GenCon!

Diceborn Heroes will be at GenCon again this year. We have a few learn to play events set up friday, saturday, and Sunday. It would be great to see some backers come out to say hi. The events should show up soon on GenCon's registration.

That's it for now there should be more updates shortly, until next time Heroes!

Update 34: Finalized Insert and dice
over 6 years ago – Thu, May 24, 2018 at 01:54:43 AM

 Production meeting

Hi guys, thought i'd give another monthly update at where we are currently. we had a production meeting with the submitted files and how we want to get them printed. Because of the many different SKU's people with KS copies, non KS copies, dice towers, tokens, promo cards in combinations. We have to seperate the print files to better coordinate with each possible outcome. What does that mean for you? well we have unfortunately run into more delays redoing all the card files which were organized by size for printing into ones that are organized by base game , promo, or KS copies. Those have now been submitted and now the final tackle is the rulebook.

Rulebook changes

I have heard your comments and issues of the rulebook, here, on messages and BGG and appreciate you bringing these issues to light. In response I have been working on retooling the rulebook again in a different manner to help guide new players in more easily. both with a "Getting started" first game section and more details on certain cards and conditions. The original rulebook was created in Microsoft Word and was a product of its format. This rulebook is the final step in our tooling process. We have finished up our dice and insert design!

Dice and Insert designs

Here is a quick render of the idea I have for the insert. Including several organizational trays and compartments and a large cavity for packing that should house the dice towers snuggly for those that are looking into getting those. The dice we have gone a few directions with and have settled on large numbers with a border.

We have chosen 3 different pantones which have pigments similar to the cards and should hopefully help differentiate them.

The colors will be translucent of that specific pantone and the inked lines will be white which should give it a gem feel in the final product. Seeing how we are still missing a few elements the timeline they are giving of 8-10 weeks has not started so that should put us at fulfillment end of August or early September. We will post the revised rulebook for Print and play when it is finished. There's still a few surprises in store, as this is a first of this style both myself and Panda Games have endeavored we are optimistic we can make this thing special. The organization and tooling for the boxes will be key.

Back on the road in the fall

It's been a while since our trip to Edmonton and Vancouver, and we are hoping to spread out even further once the game is released to meet everyone! We are lining up 3-4 conventions but currently I am announcing that we will be at SHUX 2018 in Vancouver. October 12th- 14th! Mark it on the calendars. Or whatever digital calendar equivalent you may own! That's all for today. Until next time heroes!

Tabletop day celebrations!

Hey guys, it's been a wild year of design, production, touring, and we are one step closer to getting things shipped as we are setting up the box and dice files. Having launched our campaign on this day last year I can say that again it has been a dream come true. I Can't wait to get samples in. In the midst of having to move locations which delayed efforts this past weekend we are now back in full swing. Apologies for not getting back to anyone.

With Tabletop day approaching, April 28, this coming weekend does anyone have any big plans for celebrating our hobby this holiday?

Update 32: Revised Layout

 Print and Play Feedback

Hey everyone now that the Print and Play files are out there we have had a lot of outpour of comments, suggestions, and questions. The stories from people playing it are really exciting to hear and the comments have been helpful. Most of the comments have been about the color being too dark, and that there should be color-blind friendly marks to distinguish colored slots.

We also had a few changes that were needed for the print file.

We have been hard at work with a few of the revisions put forth on the submitted print files. Most of which was pulling the important data from the edges into the middle of the card. We also did some colour correction and increased the resolution of the files. So I decided to incorporate a few of the suggestions in the newly submitted files. Here's a sample of the differences:

Hero Card OLD --------------------> Hero Card NEW

ATK Card OLD --------------------> ATK Card NEW

The die slots have a small crack in the corners now to detail the color of the slot. Bottom Left are green, Right is Red, and Top is Blue. The new aspect ratio for the mini cards were a challenge but everything ended up just as clear as before also a bit more vibrant.

GOBfest this weekend!

I'll be driving up to Edmonton this weekend for GOBfest, packing some games and promo dice with the logo. If you are planning on attending pop by and help take some of these dice away. I have so many dice! DICE!

Until next time Heroes!
