Update 41: Post FallCon
almost 3 years ago – Thu, Sep 27, 2018 at 02:24:37 AM

The wait for samples...

Greetings heroes, its been a while since our last update I thought I would fill you in on production. We are still waiting on a sample of the boxed game for our final approval, While most of the components are already in mass production we are not gonna begin assembly until the final approval is in, and with shipping becoming delayed with the hurricane that has impacted the region, samples are most likely a ways away. I sympathize with all the people who have been affected in the region. Here is a table showing the remaining production with yellow meaning it is waiting on something, Green meaning it is underway.

 Post FallCon plans

Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers for FallCon. This past weekend was a phenomenal Con with plenty of games and gamers to go around. I got to participate in a panel on getting your game designs made. I believe it was recorded and would be available to check out soon. I talked about the pros and cons of Kickstarter, and the work involved after the funding goal has been met. It was a solid panel of designers and I was honored to be among them.

Looking forward we will be present at SHUX expo in Vancouver October 12-14. We will have a company table set up Saturday but will be doing demos all weekend. I am hoping to have pre-production copies by then to show!

Thanks again for reading, until next time heroes...

Update 40: Sample dice have arrived
about 3 years ago – Fri, Sep 07, 2018 at 01:17:29 AM

First samples of dice have arrived!

Greetings heroes, the first samples of the custom dice that will be in all copies of Diceborn Heroes have arrived and they did not disappoint. The colors are vibrant even in low light, the numbers are very clear with a clear engraved border. They also fit perfectly onto the cards dice slots left for them. Take a look for yourselves:

We sent the approval right away and got confirmation they are now starting pieces of game production. We still have a few samples to approve but the dice were one of the few things I had not seen samples of and with 100's of options, I was worried they would be the problem component.

First annual Fowl Play

I want to thank Roxley Games and The Sentry Box for hosting the first annual Fowl Play game developers conference. I got to meet several amazing distributors, designers, producers, reviewers, and a veritable room full of talented people. It was a great event.

Tiny inconsistencies

In the meantime as we get samples of production I have been tirelessly ironing out inconsistencies that have been noticed, mostly with grammar and the rulebook, lightened up some of the backgrounds of Bounties and Song cards, to help legibility. I will release another rulebook but I am waiting for a final read through of the printed copy before I upload.

That's about it for now, but I'm sure there will be much more soon. Until next time Heroes!

Update 39: Production samples are coming in!

Dicebag samples

Hi Everyone! I thought i would drop a quick update. Just got samples in from the manufacturer. The first completed item sent was the cloth dice bags. I am really impressed with the result. It feels both soft and durable with matching drawstring.Take a look for yourself!

Other components are getting sent as they are completed so expect alot more updates as they keep pouring in the components! Until next time heroes!

Update 38: We are back! Good to be home!
about 3 years ago – Sat, Aug 11, 2018 at 12:13:09 AM

 Back to work!

Thank you to everyone who came by to try out our Learn and Play events or stopped by to chat. In total we had 20 people for our 3 events. In victory or defeat what I saw was teams of people young and old lose themselves in the game and find ways their character can stand out each quest and be the missing piece to turn the tide. I got an empassioned email from one person who signed up saying it was without a doubt the best game he saw at the con and was excited to get his own copy soon. Thanks again!

Production timeline

Now that I'm back I'm catching up on e-mails, went through our submission files. I had spoken to Panda Games and our timeline is still the same once they give the final approval. It currently sits at 2-3 weeks to get a sample and 6-8 weeks for fulfillment. Our submission is over 55 files. We have 358 mostly unique cards included in the set along with all the insert, dice, play mat, box, tokens and other miscellaneous files so it was quite unwieldy to edit. There is enough there whether you are doing single fun playthroughs with younger crowds or full campaigns with a dedicated group of heroes. I can't wait to hear and share stories about it with everyone.

Thanks again, until the next update heroes!
